This article reviews the impact of Tui Na on symptoms post-stroke for patients suffering from stroke who have limited mobility. It is evident that the effects of Tui Na can be beneficial in many aspects of the treatment of patients with these conditions, but caution must be used when administering a medication. It is best to administer this medicine under the supervision by a physician or chiropractor. In order to study the efficacy as well as effectiveness and safety of Tui Na as an additional therapy to treat spasticity that affects the lower limbs for stroke patients. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to study the effect of tui na on spasticity of patients suffering from cerebellar ataxia. This is a disorder that can cause seizures and can be associated with an increased likelihood of disability or death. The study found a connection between stroke and tui-na or fatal spasticity, which is nonfatal. In the period following stroke, there was the effects of tui na in spasticity. However, these effects were not as significant when compared to the following period. It was difficult to decide if the drug was suitable for use post-stroke. Tui Na is a traditional Chinese medicine widely used for chronic disorders in the musculoskeletal systems and as a soothing ingredient in Chinese massage therapies. This plant is best known because of its capacity to ease stomach discomfort and is considered to be one of the best herbal remedies in the world. In China, where it's a part of the population, more than 200 million Chinese utilize Tui Na as their first medicinal herb. While there is no unanimity on the impact of the medicine regarding mortality or morbidity in general, clinical trials are not yet reported. However, the advantages may not be fully understood. Tui Na was first introduced in the UK in February 2021. The theory is that it's helpful to improve motor coordination for patients with stroke and to prevent loss of life or death due to injury to the head. There are concerns over the effects of tui-na on the development of cerebral dementia. There is no consensus on whether the treatment for mild-to-severe upper limb spasticity caused by corticobasal or early-onset myelination (movement) is to be applied. The effects of this medication on those suffering from strokes has also been doubted. Researchers have studied the impact the effects of massage therapy on people who suffer from spasticity as a result of injuries to the spine. A study conducted by Google Scholar indicates that the application of tui-na could enhance the upper limb spasticity for those suffering from post-stroke stress. For improved leg function it could be used in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapy or ultrasound. It was statistically significant distinction between the patients receiving massage and those who were receiving CT to improve leg functionality according to two groups. There were no significant differences in the group receiving Tui Na and CT. David Williams is a former President of the American Association of Massage and Bodywork Specialists. He is also skeptical of the credibility of tui na. According to David Williams, "The belief system is based on the belief that any illness could be traced back to problems that start in the bones, muscles as well as the nervous system." The author goes on to suggest that massage and other similar treatments can be used as "a diversionary method" employed by chiropractors to divert the focus of patients away from the symptoms or to manipulate the structures of the body that give false perceptions of health. According to Williams the system of belief of tui na is "based on speculation, myth and magical thinking." Although many modern medical researchers have resisted the old concept of tui na and the massage, there are some who believe it is a valid part of Chinese medical practices. Dr. Yang, associate medical professor at Harvard Medical School, is one of those who believes that acupuncture is effective in delivering points to help prevent illness and treatment. He believes that meridians exist throughout the body , and they support the energy flow throughout the body. Energy flow within the body is supported by meridians which can be found throughout the body. In addition, the energy flows can be both horizontally and vertically. According to Dr. Yang, if the energy in the meridian flows always in the wrong direction it may result in discomfort as well as pain and dysfunction of the structures supporting the legs. Dr. Yang feels that tui nu is the best treatment for patients suffering from strokes and with spasticity of the upper limb due to the connection between meridians and nerves. He advises people suffering from diabetic neuropathy that treatment might result in blood sugar disturbance and hypoglycemia.
